RRR Dominates Golden Globe Awards, Wins Best Original Song for 'Naatu Naatu'

Director SS Rajamouli's critically-acclaimed blockbuster film RRR won big at the Golden Globe awards, taking home the award for Best Original Song for "Naatu Naatu." Despite missing out on the Best Non-English Language Film award, which was won by Argentina's "1985," RRR was still a standout in the category, with other nominees including "All Quiet on the Western Front" (Germany), "Close" (Belgium), and "Decision to Leave" (South Korea).

Representing the film at the awards ceremony were Rajamouli himself, as well as stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan, who were accompanied by his wife, Upasana Kamineni. The film, which was set in British-occupied India in the 1920s and featured a star-studded cast including Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris, earned over $160 million worldwide.

The success of RRR at the Golden Globes is just the latest in a string of international accolades for the film, including a Best Director award for Rajamouli at the New York Film Critics Circle awards. The film has also submitted itself for consideration in various Oscar categories, and is expected to receive nominations in at least one category, if not more.

The Golden Globe Awards ceremony, hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael, was held in Los Angeles, marked the return of the awards to the Hollywood mainstream after taking internal reforms following criticism of its alleged racist and sexist voting practices. Last year's ceremony was boycotted by NBC, which broadcasts the show, and many of Hollywood's big stars led by Tom Cruise who returned his three Golden Globe awards.
